Thomas E. Brewer, Sharing
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Philemon 6
I always look forward to the summer. As a child my parents and I would go on trips and many times we went south to visit friends in Mississippi and Alabama. There are so many memories that I have of those trips and some day I would love to take Jenny and Alexa on vacation to the south visiting our friends and many of locations we would stop along the way.
One of my favorite stops along the way was in Vicksburg, Mississippi. There as you cross the Mississippi River from Louisiana going into Mississippi we would stop at the Welcome center. The reason as a child I would love this stop was for the free soda. You would walk in and there would be a lady who would give you a cup of soda. I always thought it was so good.
Around Vicksburg there were many sites to see. There are historical places from the Civil War and great museums. There were times which we would just stop for a short time and then others times that we would spend the day. As I think about those trips one event always stands out in my mind. It is my father talking about the Lord to a couple of ladies.
As I was writing this article I looked on the web about Vicksburg. I am not for sure but I think we were maybe at the Old Courthouse. I remember sitting on the steps near a gift shop and dad began talking to the two ladies about God. As I child I can remember thinking we will be here a long time.
My father has always been so good about sharing his faith with people he comes into contact with. Even in the past years with his illness he desires to share about the Lord. That day in Vicksburg he and mom talked to those ladies about the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord.
Looking back as a son and now as a father myself I am thankful for the example of sharing Christ. As you go through this week will you take the opportunity to share the hope that you have through Christ with the those you work with and come into contact with each day. The greatest gift given to us is that of Christ! Can we give our best back to Him by sharing His love with the world! If you are like me, you would tell everyone if you get a new car and all about it's features but many days we never open our mouths about the greatest gift of all, Christ! Share Him one person at a time!
